WATER

We've just emerged from a long-term drought that threatened our cities and ecosystems with fire, water shortages, agricultural change, and compromised habitats.

An increasingly variable climate is predicted over the coming decades as  humidity increases from the ocean's warming surface, leading to more extreme weather in California and beyond (Hagos et al., 2016).

We must prepare for drought to become more resilient, and that means reducing water consumption, even after we've returned to normal conditions post-drought (Boxall, 2017).

How can you help? Use low settings on your sink and turn it off when not in use, collect water before it goes down the drain and reuse it, switch to a drought-tolerant landscape, install outdoor water-collectors to capture rain, shorten your showers, water your lawn at night and less frequently, and help us conserve this precious resource.
