A few months have passed since we headed into the new year. In the meantime, a few projects have been in development which will be discussed briefly:
First, I have been drafting a story which I will share with a local venue about my research on single-use waste in coffee and tea shops. I will happily share the progress for this project in the coming months. I hope to utilize it as a platform for a future social marketing campaign in our county which promotes reusable alternatives in this industry. San Diego, along with the greater state of California, is a leading figure in conservation initiatives. Our state often takes the first steps into uncharted territory and uses inspiration from success stories to inform our own strategies. We've overcome our dependency on single-use plastic bags with the state-wide ban two years ago. We tried to ban styrofoam containers but rather implemented a recycling plan to reduce their impacts. Now, I hope the local population can champion sustainable coffee shops and reflect its commitment to protecting the environment by beginning to bring/use its own reusable cups.
Otherwise, I plan to develop a blog post with a special focus on primate conservation that should be out in the next few months. With an undergraduate background in anthropology focusing on primatology and evolution, I have long been passionate about this subject. After all, it was my springboard into the conservation field.
Thank you for following my work. There are countless conservationists in our community finding solutions to a number of local and international issues which we should all support. Spread the word, and stay current on projects that protect the environment. We're on a mission to end extinction and to provide a better planet for future generations.
